Rambler Crane Series B-9
Multifunctional Robot
I made this robot on the surface of an alien planet with some help from my friend Bill (Doc) Wiseman from HVHMG. It was my first time doing landscaping and he helped bring the idea in my mind to the surface.
In the chest area, I added a screen to one of the chest ports that can be seen in the movie version robot, but not in the original kit.
I also added copper wiring inside the head that can be seen thru the faceplate.
I wanted him to look more realistic by changing the pose with his head tilted to the left, and I opened the left hand fingers and drilled a hole in the center to show him about to fire his plasma weapons. The original model has both hands closed. I made sure that I left a few seams to make it more realistic plating.
The tread work I actually did a few years ago. I have been working on this model for about 4 years now and finally got him finished. The tracks were a chore to do and it was also the first thing I got to use my airbrush on. Coloring the inside red and the outside gray. Then I did a wash.
So, I did a wash to the whole robot, and then I put on a dullcoat. if you notice in the bottom section of the robot, I could not really put in a computer screen on top like in the movie, so I added bare metal foil, and then painted over it with a Tamiya clear blue paint. This gives it a look of some type a screen. Well, at least I hope it looks like one. Then I finished off with some weathering powders for the (drive over terrain) look.
