The Hood has been damaged with Sheet Styrene strips that are to represent Hull’s rips and fractures. The Rip in the top saucer section is also done with Styrene. I had to cut out a large enough hole, and then add the sheet on top to represent the hull fractures. If I used the original Plastic, it would have been to thick to look realistic. The rear of the one Nacelle that is still somewhat intact, has a stone pillar made out of resin used in dioramas I picked up at a show. That represents the insides of the warp unit. Pillow stuffing that I got from my Best Friend Karen helped out as smoke with weathering powders and pastels to give it color. All the ship decals are standard kit except for the Name and number on the top of the saucer, that was special order from PNT Models. This ship was originally to become the U.S.S. Poughkeepsie. I was going to add the rear pillars to the warp engines to give it a different design, and then I started to play around with blowing the ship up or having a battle scene. I usually try to stay in focus with the many Star Trek books that are available, and in the book called The Ships of Star Fleet, V1 revised, it shows that the Hood was lost. So that became the name of this ship. And saved the Poughkeepsie from utter doom! LOL
